I have heard folks make the differentiation many times.
Judging by some of the pornographic pictures some place on 360 sites I bet they confuse the difference also. Those are some VERY young boys whose image some seem to enjoy so much.
Wide Awake has brought it up again which leads to my next question. He seems to take a moral high stand and is offended when homosexuals and pedophiles are compared...but whats the difference? So why the high horse? If one finds it ok to change the law concerning marriage...why not change the law for consenting adults? That way you can marry the pretty little boys in your pictures.
So what is the difference?
The only difference I can see is a matter of one day.
One day he is 17...the next day he is 18.

NAMBLA Did indeed march and was very related to LGBT in the 70's.
It is only after it was realized that man/boy sex was not helping the LGBT cause that they decided to distance themselves from it.
Let's face it...it is not hetero sex going on in NAMBLA.

I'm not a pedophile and I prefer mature men...however I just wanted to address this
Ill make it short...The whole age thing is a law here in the U.S.
Its not the same in every country,...So one is called a pedophile here and nothing in another country....The U.S. has imposed the age of accountability is 18 so yes its wrong here but not somewhere else.
maybe the age needs to be adjusted here...?
There are pedophiles in the hetero and straight "communities"here in the U.S......

Yes, you are right, people who claim to be "christian" and then spew such hatred really are hypocrites. Such people often confuse a crime of power and control, like peodphilia or rape, vs. God-given, innate sexual orientation.
Of course I agree that God makes people LGBT or straight, and both are just variations of sexual orientation, neither being more "right" or "moral" than the other. Yes, we are agreed that sexual orientation does not change over time, is not a "choice," and does not need to be "cured."
Which PFLAG chapter do you belong to?
EDIT - to "herman m" - NAMBLA has never marched in any LGBT parade. Like others, you have completely missed the point that pedophilia has nothing to do with LGBT people. Stop lying about the parades.
I won't bother editing my answer above any further, since logic and reason does not sway some people. They can believe what ever they would like, no matter how illogical and prejudiced - as long as they keep it to themselves, and do not corrupt innocent children.

homosexuals are men and women who prefer sexual relations and romantic relationships with members of the same sex.
Pedophiles on the other hand are men and women of either heterosexual or homosexual nature who sexualize underage children.
Pedophilia happens more often among heterosexuals than among homosexuals.
children are over-sexualized byt he media, both by gay and straight media.
evidence? how many times do people look for naked pictures on the internet of underage stars? britney spears and lindsey lohan...porn sites were making bundles off of "naked pictures" of both of them long before either britney or lindsey were legal.
Pedophilia, and the over-sexualization of our children and the images of children, while a growing problem for the gay community, is equally bad for the heterosexual community.
Therefore, the terms "homosexual" and "pedophile" are no more related than "heterosexual" and "pedophile".

do you seriously not know the difference here? we are adults who are in relationships with other consenting adults of the same gender. pedophiles are adults who prey on innocent children...who are too young to give consent or understand what's going on. they are sexual predators....criminals! and they belong in prison.

The gay community would censure you by saying that pedophilia is in no way related to homosexuality. To prove this they allow NAMBLA to proudly march each year in the NYC and San Fran gay pride marches.
