few of my computer's ports are open and permitting outbound traffic. how can i stop / close them? thx?

You only need to control inbound traffic. If you really want to control the outbound traffic, any firewall or internet security software will help. They are easy and menu driven.

well, if you do NOT want to utilize the web, or e mail, or other outside of your own computer, just unplug the dsl/fone line.
to use these services, certain ports must be open. some are default, and that's kinda how things are.
