There's a guy selling one for $100, haven't seen it yet, but I'd like to know if it's worth looking at.

Sorry, the owner admits the car has a blown head gasket and he only wants $100 for the entire car. I don't know the mileage yet, but I figure if it's a grand, it's still a good deal. A Fiero GT was my first car, so I want it for nostalga purposes.

You could do the head gasket yourself.
Put some Lambo doors on it to increase the wow factor.

Head gaskets are the worst. When the owner says it is a head gasket one tends to think that you just pop the head off and replace the gasket and you're all set. rarely does it work that way. When the head is off the truth comes out. Cracked head, cracked block, bad bearings, bad valves, etc. Unless you are a mechanic and love Fiero's stay away from this one. By the way, what's wrong with fat chicks?

You can buy a head gasket for $100 but that is completely different from repairing/replacing it.

If you are doing this yourself, you will have to make the investment in tools, sealants and some other gaskets if you have AC and such.

You are needing to tear apart your engine to replace the head gasket. But you may be able to find a garage that can do it for a few hundred dollars to a grand.

It is a lengthy process if doing it yourself but it can be done, just takes time and tools.

look for goo in the oil, normally white ( that means the oil and water are mixing together)
look for contamination in the water,
make sure theres nothing leaking from the engine block itself,

and simply take it for a decent test run, if its got a blown head gasket it'll almost certainly overheat on a decent run.

Sure. The cost of the parts, plus the shop labor rate multiplied by the number of hours the job takes, plus tax, plus shop fees in any.
