We do have our problems of course.
Another part of of the questions are "are we the economic power house of the day"? Are we constantly, by the left or right, "trying to make ourselves better, socially, economically and militarily"? Now, I'm not saying we are not going to fall like Rome did, but right now, Iran and North Korea doesn't want to mess around. Really. I know what the Army can do.

We are the greatest nation ever to exist on earth. But just like Rome we need to be very careful. The Romans got too big and picked on some of the wrong people. The Visigoths, Vandals, Gauls all took a piece of Rome. If we don't learn from history it will repeat itself.

In the near future, we will have to scratch and claw to retain our status as the reigning economic power house, now that we live in world with a global economy.
With regards to Iran and North Korea, well, Russia wasn't fooling around either, but MAD (mutually assured destruction) prevented a nuclear holocaust the first time.
Terrorists are an entirely different matter if they come to possess nuclear weapons.

I agree we are the greatest nation. Some people who don't respect it should leave. It seems like we are trying to make ourselves better. Or maybe just trying to make everyone happy, and that is never going to happen. Everyone is complaining about about something
I know too from experience what are military can do. Especially if we are given the go ahead with no strings attached.

Define "GREAT" -
• adjective
1. of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above average.
2. of ability, quality, or eminence considerably above average.
3. informal excellent.
4. most important: the great thing is the challenge.
5. particularly deserving a specified description: I was a great fan of Hank’s.
6. (Greater) (of a city) including adjacent urban areas.
7. in combination (in names of family relationships) referring to one degree further removed upwards or downwards: a great-great-grandfather.
Nowhere in there do I read or interpret "GREAT" as being good, therefore YES...America is a great country.
As for economic powerhouse...the dollar isn't worth much these days outside of America. We keep hearing politicos talking about the growing economy but they neglect to tell the American people that THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA and JAPAN are financing our debt.
I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so...da da da...da...da...~~~~W

You can say 'we're #1' all day if it makes you feel good, but I don't think anyone can objectively answer that question until they've lived in other countries and experienced other cultures.
