Someone tells me that I am pretty. I mean I know its a good thing.. but I just feel like.. ok you don't need to tell me.

Well sometimes beauty is a curse and the reason why is all of the attention you get. Yes, that's great and all, but when you hear it so much, you just feel like saying, "please don't say that" or you feel like they are saying it to try to win you over.

Possibly you lack gratitude because of the kind of compliment you're receiving. Since our society is focused on appearance, there are so many things the person giving the compliment could be thinking.
And if you happen to hear this kind of thing a lot, you wouldn't know what to do with the information.

Well, when you'll be 80 years old, maybe no one will tell you. I am grateful when they tell me that now by saying only: Thank you.

Maybe because being pretty may not be the most important thing to you.... do you feel better when someone tells you that you are smart or really good at something?

Why do you feel the need to feel grateful? Just accept it rather then feel grateful.
Perhaps you do not feel grateful because it is not the criteria by which you would like to be personified?

I'm not sure what your problem is. But, when I get compliments I am not ungrateful nor thankful for them! If I wanted someones opinion of me I'd ask for it!

i know how you feel. im used to being put downed, cause im short and ugly. when someone compliments me, i'm thinking that they're sarcastic, so i dont feel that grateful.
