So my brother and I are hard core sims fans. We have the complete collection of sims, but still like to look for cool object/skin downloads. Does anyone know where to get cool, free downloads? We have already looked at TSR & the official site.
Also do you know where to buy the Sims 2 for a decent price?

then go to exchange
then Sims
and when you download a sim, the sim comes up in the sim bin in the game
I have A LOT of downloads from there. and it's free
all you have to do is make an account, and download sims, or/and houses.

There are a lot of good download sites out there with custom content made by fans of the game.

Those are my favorites. Please be careful though when downloading and installing these into your game files. I had so much trouble with some of my downloads that I ended up having to delete them all and start over.
My advice is to first do a google search for the Sims 2 Pack Clean Installer. That's the best way to manage your downloads.
Next, you should definitely download just a few at a time, use the Clean Installer by following all the instructions, and wait a couple days in between batches of downloads to see if your game stalls.
I know it takes patience because it's easy to download everything you like as you see it, but it's worth it to take your time. That way if you run into problems running the game, you can disable your most recent downloads and delete them if they were the cause.
Believe me, this will save you a lot of grief later which I still haven't fully recovered from. Lots of luck and happy simming!
