The Takohamo plateau is supposed to be a location near the Canada - U.S. border where, in 1961, the U.S. Military met with a race of extraterrestrials. The story is that three humans were exchanged for three aliens. Subsequently, the U.S. and the Soviet Union established the Takohamo Military Experimental Camp, to try and establish superiority over the alien visitors. I'll let you decide whether this is likely to have actually ocurred or not.
