I read a scientific paper ten years ago that people's noses screened out their own b.o. to enable them to detect other odors like food. The ability to not detect their own b.o. was strongest among Africans probably because they sweat more. As I remember that applied to the other humans around them. In other words humans are not good at detecting the human scent from themselves or from anybody else. Different groups of people had different odors they couldn't detect. In other words you can smell a different ethnic group better then your own. Ask a dog they know we stink even if we don't think so.

People just become used to their own smell, so they can't really tell. Sometimes I know that I have awful BO, but the only way that I can tell is if I stick my nose right in my armpit. And my sister will be a few feet away from me complaining about my smell. I also smell myself when I smell particularly yummy, or if I use a new product.

The situation of telling someone about their BO is really tricky. If it's a close friend, either tell them straight up, or say something jokingly like "When was the last time you showered! I can smell your pits!" However you day it, it will probably surprise them, and they'll probably feel embaressed. But you'll be doing them a HUGE favor.

Why dont you just ask your friend? Hey youre not trying to be a *****, youre trying to help him out by giving friendly advice. Also it doesnt matter, some people suffer from it, there is actually medication they can take, also their are shots they can get to fight against it.

Good luck, and also if I stank like *** all the time and didnt realize it, I would want someone telling me. Yeah it would hurt my feelings, but hey atleast I could fix the problem.

CanYOU smell YOURSELF? I know what you mean. I think sometimes people get used to the smell of themselves and they just dont really notice. Kind of like when you go into someones house and there is always a smell. The people who live there probably dont even notice it because they are used to it, they smell it everyday. Does your house smell? It probably does to other people who arent frquently at your place. LATERZ
