Sometimes birth control pills, patches, etc are prescribed to help with this. It doesn't always work. Usually the cysts will go away on their own. My Dr. put me on Yaz thinking it would help. Long story short, I had diagnostic laparoscopy 3 days ago because a cyst encapsulated my left ovary.

ovarian cysts do not normally require surgery. I have pcos and what it is a your ovaries are filled with cysts. I had laparoscopy that removed a cyst because of the pain it was causing me. If you have pain or problems associated with the cysys then maybe laparoscopy is for you. Otherwise most cysts will go away on their own.

On the Early Show they showed that there was a laser x-ray that did it w/o surgery. I don't know where you can get it done, but it is more expensive than surgery, but more effective.
