I believe the film portrays factual events. I do not think the people depicted in the film are real, just that the film exploit the turmoil in some African nations. It is not hard to believe that such events took place, Africa has always been a bed of fomenting revolt and dissension. Anyway I thought the film was fantastic. Leonardo keeps getting better all the time. Cheers!

I think the people are fiction in Blood Diamond, but the situation is real. I think they may have depicted the journalist investigating how the diamonds are mined in that country, and that there probably really was a african man searching for his son. I will do some searching and see if I can actually find some real facts for you.

The actual people are probably fake, but i'm sure that something like this has probably happened. It's kind of like a realistic fiction I suppose, it could have or can be happening right now. I think they did a very good job portraying what was going on in this area of the world. Obviously the academy thought DiCaprio and Houson did an excellent job as they were both up for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor

well of course all the people in the movie are actors but yes they are depicted from real people... it is a movie to show you a glimpse of what really happens in these countries in order to get diamonds to USA and other places.. it is true that people in poverty are getting exploited everyday in order to get diamonds.. but this is only a little peek at what is happening now around the world.... i hope this movie opened your eyes and now you can see the world you live in.. its not all "pizzas and blowjobs" lol
