The horror of itching! My belly seems to itch after I change clothes or before I go to bed. The worse itching has been the top of my feet and the back of my hands, I nearly made them bleed. The ONLY thing that stopped the itching (believe it or not) was vapor rub, yes I know it sounds like it might make it worse but it didn't! I was almost crying one night from the itching on my feet and my mom said well let's try vapor rub! OMG it sooo worked! Good luck!

Itching can be caused by the skin stretching when your bump get bigger try using a good moisturizing cream.
***But*** it can also be caused by a condition that effects your liver function it can be serious so i would recommend going and getting it checked out in the hospital tell them the itcching will not go a way and a simple blood test will be able to tell you if this is the case here is some information on it my friend had it on two of her pregnancy's
INTRAHEPATIC CHOLESTASIS OF PREGNANCY (ICP)
What is intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy?
ICP is a pregnancy-related liver disorder in which there are abnormalities in the flow of bile (a substance produced by the liver that aids in the digestion and absorption of fats). This leads to a build-up of bile acids (components of bile) in the mother’s blood, resulting in symptoms such as severe skin itching.
What are the symptoms of ICP?
The symptoms of ICP can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually start in the third trimester of pregnancy, but can begin earlier. The most common symptoms include:
*
Skin itching that gets progressively worse; it may be so severe that it interferes with sleep and daily activities. All women with ICP generally have some degree of itching. Many affected women itch all over their bodies, but itching may be most severe on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.
*
Jaundice, which is yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes, occurs in about 20 percent of women with ICP (1).
A pregnant woman should call her health care provider if she has these symptoms.
i hope i haven't scared you no harm in playing safe.
good luck and the wait for baby to come is torture now before you know it he or she will be keeping you up and you'll be thinking this is so worth it . its great

i dont think that itching your belly will harm your baby i think this is an old wives tale as i have not seen any medical evidence to support this. when i was preg and got to about 34 weeks i was itchin like mad and itched it and i have a very healthy boy. i some times used cocoa butter which helped alot if u wanna try if u are concered about what people have said any way i wouldnt worry to much gud luck xx

Do you have a rash? If so,then it is called PUPP. About 1% of pregnant women get this rash, and I was one of the unfortunate few as well. There is no cure and the only way to get rid of it is to give birth. Your doc can subscribe a medicine to put on it. Sadly, one of my docs, a man, said they were stretch marks and got on to me for gaining 45 pounds. After I gave birth, the nurse knew immediatly what it was. As wierd as this sounds, use talcum powder like Bonds anti-itch powder. It works, but not for very long.

Unless you are itchy all over then it is just your skin stretching. The only thing that helped me was baby oil gel straight after my morning shower, on wet skin. Greasy I know, but it was better than the itch!!!

ahhh, stop now!! it might be PUPP. i had it and so did my neighbor. tell your dr and you will get a perscription for it. until then try baby powder and ice. it will start as bumps on your belly and spread to your limbs in the next week or two. dont scratch with all your might because it will look like chicken pox for months after. it wont spread to your face for some reason but it will spread everywhere else. it starts in the later of pregnancy and well let me share what i can:

oh and STOP putting lotion on it. the fragrances will only make it worse. it might feel worse under hot water too.

i am only 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd, and am so itchy i have a huge rash all over my tummy, midwife says its just dry skin, it drives me mad though.
Never had it before, only way to worry is if the itching is on hands or feet as this can be a serious condtion that affects the liver, and the baby would beed to be delivered, speak to your midewife.
Otherwise its just the pregnancy, but i know how you feel, i have scratched my tum to bits, it came as soon as i fell pregnant.

itchy skin is common in pregnancy I would suggest speaking with the health visitor as it can also be symptoms of other things she would be the one with all the knowledge on this hun xx(I had itchy skin and they did rule out other symptomatic problems due to pregnancy before issuing cream so just tread on the air of caution though Im sure she will just be giving you a good hydrating cream (some medications do say do not take if you suffer itchy skin in pregnancy)xx
