I lent my nieghbour some money which she repaid. But she keeps coming back to borrow more. I really don't like lending money unless the situation is urgent as in my experience it always creates problem. I dont even feel that Im better off than her only better at going without. How can I tell her tactfully that I dont want to lend her any more without spoiling our friendship.

When she asks you, just say "I don't have the money to lend to you". You do not have to explain that you have money, but you are actually telling the truth by saying you don't have any for her! This does work and I use this tactic on my friends.

Tell her you just put all your spare cash into a term deposit and you don't have access to it for another five years!

Then you can tell her you're committed to a direct deposit from your regular account, which leaves you with just enough money to cover bills & one nice dinner out per week.

You could even try and bludge some money off her at the end of the speech, ha ha!

Good luck, I'd hate this question too . . .

Makes me think of the Simpsons episode when Grandpa Simpson gets asked by a scruffy-looking dude if he's got any 'spare change' . . . and yells back at the guy, "PLENTY!!! And you ain't gettin it!"

If i were you, i would just tell her that you dont have the money to lend out... its none of her business the reason.

Really simple, all you do is say: "I don't want to lend you money"
There that's it!
