We did live together for 6 months. We have been married 20 years and it's great. We could have got to know eachother just as well by dating longer. Your marriage will be different in 5yrs, 10 yrs, 15 yrs, 20 yrs, Life always changes. You must be commited for life. For better or worse. Treat eachother well, even if you don't feel like it that day or week or month. True love is patient.

My wife and I lived together for 2 years before we were married. Our marriage is outstanding now and hopefully always will be. I think today with the high divorce rates, it is a good idea to live together before you are married because then you are exposed to everything about your partner (good and bad). If there is nothing wrong after that point, then I say have a great life together. Hope this helps you a little.

I lived with my husband for 6 years before we married. We have been married for almost two. We did everything backwards; live together first then kids. Our marriage is great and we work on it everyday. You always try to accomodate one another, and the feeling when you go to bed together at night time and say "I love you", makes my marriage that much more special. I love my life.

I will probably get lynched for this...but I would encourage my own daughter to live with a man before she considers marriage.

I've been married twice. The first time I got married I lived with my parents until the day of my wedding. I struggled through six terrible years of marriage with a man who I had nothing in common with. He wasn't a bad man, we were simply incompatible. Back then, I had no options. My parents would have disowned me if I had even thought about living with a man out of wed-lock.

I met my second husband later in life. We hit it off on our first date. Three months later I moved in with him and six months after than I married him. We've been together for seven happy years. I'm married to my best friend.

I honestly feel, since I've experienced both situations that living together first is better than dealing with a divorce and a broken family. There are no guarantees that you will have a happy relationship or that you won't end up divorced even if you live together first, but I truly believe that you increase your odds.

Good luck with your decision! :-)

Yup... I certainly did... Hows the marriage now?? Umm it was over 10 years ago.. and I have never made that mistake except the one time (marriage) and I waited until 32 to do it the one and only time... (I'm 48 now)

Lets just put it this way.. i like my dog way better than I do my X wife.... I live alone with him now ... Much easier...

I never lived with my husband before marriage, neither did I have sex with anyone before marriage. My marriage lasted 52 years, until my husband died in 2002. Marriage is a give and take situation and you have to abide by you marriage vows!

My husband chose to wait until we were married to live together. We were both living with our parents and didn't have to pay rent (we were still in college.) By the time we graduated, we got married and moved in together. It was perfect because it was both of our first times having our own place. We've been happily married for three years now.

I've heard from other couples, if you do move in together, get a brand new place that's "both of yours." Sometimes there's trouble when it comes to "my stuff" vs "your stuff." It's nice to start fresh.
