Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane?

Technically, - probably yes, but just to be on the safe side the driver should probably pull a "Weekend at Bernie's" and prop the corpse up in the passenger seat.

No. A car pool is for a group of people who meet every day to pool together to go to work in one vehicle. Funerals are rites we have for the dead, and hearses are merely the vehicle going to the grave yard. So no it can not drive in the car pool lane. Interesting question though.

I don't see why not. The signs in carpool lanes state you have to have at least 2 people in the vehicle, it doesn't say anything about them having to be alive.

Heres a better question...Why would they do that? Not too many funeral processions on the highway.
