Recently bought a green lacoste polo from eBay and am wondering wether it is fake or genuine. Here is a magnified photo of the logo:

The clothing industry is loaded with fakes and copies. If you purchased your "Lacoste" item on ebay, there is a very high chance that it is fake. If it is a $100 item retail and you purchased it for half of that amount or less, it is fake.

I would not consider ebay a reputable retailer of authentic branded clothing.

Anyone can pick up fake logos on any city street corner in the US and have them sewn on or glued onto shirts bought in the nearest dollar store or off price store.

Any branded clothing has strict guidelines that their production companies follow and you can check out the guidelines on the companies websites. There will be tags inside certain parts of the clothing, worded a certain way and even stitched into the garment a certain way with matching or contrasting stitching; depending on the company regulations.

If you find remnants of these tags, it generally means that the merchandise has been stolen from the manufacture or retailer and you are purchasing from a thief or series of thieves.

It is the clothing industry version of the paperback book with the cover ripped off that you can purchase at less than reputable retailers. This means that the designers and manufacturers and the actual people who worked to assemble the product are getting ripped off.

Be very careful about ebay purchases, you have little recourse if you get ripped off

Looking at the logo on my real one, yours looks very similar, however, it is hard to tell. Like others have said, I don't think this is enough to tell if it is real. If it is real, it should have mother-of-pearl buttons and be of very high quality craftsmanship. Also the tag on the collar should say "DESIGNED IN FRANCE", "MADE IN PERU" as well as have an RN# and CA#. At the bottom of the tag on the inside it should say "*DEVANLAY*". I've never really observed a good fake, so I don't know if this will really be able to determine it. Lastly, all the polos are in sizes 4-8 rather than S-XXL.

It's fake, i have a couple of stuff from lacoste that i bought from the actual store, and I've seen people wear that kind of "lacoste" too. You can tell its fake because the alligators teeth are way longer than the real brand.

the logo doesnt really matter becasue it can still be fake when the logo is authentic. You should have taken the pic of the whole bag.
