LEGOS!!!!!!! I actually loved all the toys that I could build anything with; Lincoln Logs, etc. But Legos were the ultimate. Legos may be why I ended up becoming an engineer.
Barbie junk was my second favorite. As a child of the 70's, I was just old enough for barbies when they first really started making black barbie dolls, so my parents made sure that my sister an I had a huge variety of both black and white barbie dolls, just for the sake of diversity. Barbie is probably just one more thing that contributed to my sister's artsy-fartsyness and encouraged her to design and make her own clothes. Barbie stuff may be the reason behind my shoe habit.

My favorite childhood toy. Definitley the hand made Raggety-Ann doll my mother made for me. She has joints sewn in her arms and legs, so she could flop around wonderfully, she HAD two sets of clothes (one of the dresses, one apron and both pairs of bloomers were eaten by my crazy dog... actually the dog ate Raggetty Andy and all his clothes too), and she has shaggy red yarn hair.
She spent many days being thrown in the air and caught again (often missed), barely survived my dog on one occation, comforted me during fevers, and got lost outdoors a number of times. She is 23 years old, is patched, stained, worn, and loved threadbare, and I still have her. When I feel frantic or angry, holding her still calms me. If the apartment caught fire, I would probably save her over anything else. She seems to have a part of my soul sometimes.

I had many toys that I loved, but honestly? My most favorite thing to play with wasn't an actual "toy", it was paper dolls! I loved them so much because I could act out actual situations in my mind. As I look back, it helped me to develop a part of my creativity that I've been able to use all through life. I loved them so much that my parents couldn't afford to keep buying them. My mother used to go to the Fabric stores and ask for the expired Simplicity and Butterick pattern books and bring them home to me. They would keep me busy all year! (And they were free!) When I would be upset about something, I'd play out the situation with my paper dolls, and I really think it helped me as a child to learn how to deal with problems and situations. That carried over into adulthood. My own daughter, however, wanted nothing to do with them. (But even as a 'Mommy' I enjoyed cutting them out and dressing them up to try to get her interested!)

I had the Barbie Motor Home. It was a hand me down from my older sister and I loved that thing. I could sit and play with that and my Barbies for hours.
