The records for both are 23 inches and 49 years. As you might guess, these results aren't typical.

The size will depend a lot on the variety of goldfish you have. Common goldfish (single tails) will get up to 9-18 inches with proper tank size and care, but fancy double-tailed varieties usually only get to be 5-9 inches in an aquarium. Both will get larger if kept outdoors in a pond.

Their age reflects their care. Twenty years wouldn't be unusual if you take good care of them, doing regular water changes, not overfeeding, or overcrowding them.

It sounds as if you're doing good by your three. Keep up the good work!

As was mentioned, how long, on average a gold fish Well kept will live around 20 years average. The record for goldie a fair won fish in England lived 49 years.

Common or Comets can get as large as 32 inches given the right environment. (I have a few that are only 3-4 years old over 20" in a pond) Average for ponds are around 18-20. Fantails rarely get larger than 8-10 inches. Since they are all derived from the Carp, they all have the capability of getting very large, again with the right surroundings. They will continue to grow.

It would depend on your particular fish and their lineage. Just as not all comets will reach the 32 inch mark depending on breeding, it is possiable that they can. I had a woman IM me yesterday saying her Koi was changing color. it was a very large 20+ inch fish. She sent a picture, it wasn't a koi at all, it was a common gold fish in a large tank.

Seems like your fish are happy and healthy. Good work!

There is not a certain amount of years that a Goldfish lives, the only way you can have your Goldfish live is to take care of it and feed it of course. Also don't forget to change the filter so it can pick up any debree. Good Luck and I hope your fish has a healthy life.

The answer to your question really depends on the size of the aquarium or pond that you have them in. Goldfish who live in the typical bowl set up, usually end up living under a year. But, goldfish who are put in proper sized environments (minimum of ten gallons per fish) can live in upwards of ten years, even longer in some cases.

Also, the size that they will get depends on the type of goldfish that you have. Comet goldfish can grow to be up to a foot long.

Well goldfish can get pretty big but it depends on what it lives in. If it lives in a pond it can get huge but in a ten gallon not as big
