It comes from the Simson's TV series. It is most appropriate when one really messes up.

It is from Homer Simpson...

It is an exclamation to offset many of the stupid things he does as a character.

It is appropriate to use when you have done something kind of dorky, but not at the expense of others...kind of like "oh crap" or something similar...

it means oops more or less. and you don't use it unless you want to sound like an idiot. it's just a form of a grunt an explanation of a problem that occured.

however if you make pizza, you can use it there.
