canister filter or power filter?

im thinkin canister cause its cheap and u dont sea the filter anywhere and u dont need to buy media cartridges for a saltwater tank

Don't be fooled, you need to replace certain parts of your media no matter what type of tank you keep. Canisters are good filters though, in general. And as you point out, easy to hide.
