I once enjoyed pro wrestling with Gorgeous George, Verne Gagne, Bruno Sammartino, Pat O'Connor, and Buddy Rogers. Those were real wrestlers. Today it is all fake. They should make it real once again.

Ok, Professional Wrestling back in the 1930's evolved from Carnivals and Side Shows. Yes, Gorgeous George, Dick The Bruiser, The Crusher, Verne Gagne were all Real tough Guys, not actors. It was considered 70% Sport and 30% show. Now, its 90% talk, 10 show. In the 1980's I Promoted Professional Wrestling and was licensed by the State Department of Professional Regulation. The Referees, time keeper, and ring announcer were State Officials.

Entertainment wrestling has been staged for a while. Back when we were young it just wasn't as obvious but, you have to remember those were the days when there were around 3 or 4 companies going strong and competing with each other. WWE has no competition at this moment therefore they can pretty much do what they want cause the know that no matter how dumb it gets there will be die hard fanatics that need that wrestling fix. I will say that TNA is getting better.

I know it is hard to deal with changing times, but real wrestling has been replaced with mixed martial arts bouts. Greco Roman wrestling is just in High Schools and Colleges now, I think. There may be some amateur purists out there. At least, WWE popularizes the old school. My son wants to learn it. He didn't like Judo, but because of WWE, he would like to learn Greco Roman wrestling and may try it out in middle school (junior high for you old timers). You mentioned Gorgeous George. In a way, he started all this. The schtick was more fun than the sport. Cheer up, it helps keep alive a dying sport.

In my day, we wrestled men without chairs to bang ovuh theh heads. We used our fists and fingers to gouge out the eyes of our opponent...AND WE LIKED IT. We used to use the "lock 4" with our legs, often crushing the upper thigh bone and part of the hip, AND WE LIKED IT. None of this jumping from the corner posts and flying like a monkey onto an unsuspecting opponent (highly unlikely). We would grapple head-to-head, shoulder-to-shoulder, digging our chins into the flesh of the other while trying to get a grip of thigh so as to flip our opponent into an easy Full-Nelson. Sometimes our necks broke, BUT WE LIKED IT!

Why would you say such a thing? If you like those matches then get things such as the matches you mentioned, and old ECW matches on DVD . You won't be able to change a billion dollar industry. It's called World Wrestling Entertainment for a reason, it's entertaining. Also, I respect that you like old style wrestling. But, please if you don't like the way its done now, then stop watching.

pro wrestling was always fake due to the better in ring performers
it looked real because back then the focus was use to be in the ring unlike now where focus is more on entertainment

In some ways, it has never been fake and has always been real, at the same time. I'll explain.

If by fake you mean the outcomes and fights are scripted, then it has and is fake.

If by real you mean involving physically grueling and potentially deadly athletics, then it has been and is still real.

The reason why it is fake is because if one wrestler hits another, they don't want any real damage done to either of them

Dude,

Change that picture. You're scary looking. I'd get myself DQ'D
just so I wouldn't have to look at you in a match...lol

I'm just having fun.

P.S. Ask the late Bruiser Brodie if his matches were real
