-4+10=5

A solution is a set of numbers that can be substituted (plugged in) to an equation to make it "true" (both sides equal each other).

Try plugging each value into each equation, do this one equation at a time.
Remember, (x,y) so x=1 and y=5 in this case.

If you get the same number on both sides, than the values are solutions.

This has to happen to both equations, because the "system" is made of both equations.

plug the numbers in and check:
3(1)-5=-2 this is true
-4(1)+2(5)=5 this is not true (10-4 does not equal 5)

put value of Y in each equation it will give value of X. if it is correct for both equation, then they are the solution.
