You should check out Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Issac Hayes, the guy that sang superfly, i can't remember his name now, but look it up, Jefferson Airplane, Love(The band), The Animals, The Kinks, The Zombies, The Arcade Fire, Aretha Franklin, Sly and The Family Stone, The Guess Who, The Who, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Placido Damingo, Marian Anderson, Santana, The Stills, The Shins, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, The Classic IV, Vivaldi, Maria Callas, Led Zeppllin, Def Leopard, Tool, The Brother's Johnson, and 60's and 70's soul music and rock music.

Ok- I know u may think this is gay.. but there are a lot of really good christian rock and alt bands that are totally worth downloading. The cool thing about it is because it isn't very mainstream- you don't hear the same old stuff over and over again. It is a good avenue for new music... here's a great site for finding what you might like:

I think Thrice is a great band, their lyrics are really great but I find that a lot of people either love or hate them. I also recommend checking out rockabilly/psychobilly music. The Horrorpops (female lead singer) are a great band with really fun music, along with Tiger Army (3 member male band from San Francisco).

A New Zealand band called Shihad. Highly recommended - although a little less intense than TOOL.

Because I see your name is tool_fan I think I can def help you out! check out Ramones and classics like Dead Boys! I really like the song Sonic Reducer by the dead boys chek it out! umm Wolfmother is a really good band, they sound almost like Sabbath! that's about it! ROCK ON!

Green Day, Switchfoot, Fall Out Boy, and TONS more. Look into a genre u enjoy listening to. You will then have narrowed it down to more choices. Also, ask your friends what music they listen to.
