White people did not settle this land first. This is not white people's land. However, nobody is saying that they founded the land of North America. No, white people founded this COUNTRY, the United States of America. Do you know of any American Indian Founding Fathers? Didn't think so.
About Columbus... He didn't think the world was flat. He thought it was round, which is why he thought he had reached India. He thought it was round, just much smaller than it is (without North and South America. There was not the slightest bit of evidence to suggest it existed.), so if he sailed west, he ought to reach India. (Otherwise he wouldn't have gone.)

Eh, Columbus didn't think the world was flat, that's why he was sailing AROUND the world trying to find a direct route to Asia. It's ridiculous to say Native Americans founded this country when they all belonged to their own independent tribes. The had wars among themselves. The British colonists DID found this country. Native Americans had nothing to do with the founding of the United States, and all of the people who signed the major documents in the beginning of the nation were white. Sorry, but I'd have to say white people founded the U.S.

They take credit for being the founders of the USA. and the constitutional laws that govern it. It is for all intents and purposes the name of a conquered nation...
WHAT CAME TO BE CALLED "AMERICA"
By 1492 people had lived in the Western Hemisphere for tens of thousands of years. For much of this time it is believed that they experienced virtually no recorded, sustained contact with other parts of the world -- Europe, Africa, or Asia.
Millions of people lived in an area some five times the size of Europe. In strikingly diverse habitats and climates they developed possibly the most varied and productive agriculture in the world. Their lifestyles and belief systems differed widely and they spoke hundreds of distinct languages.
Throughout the hemisphere, states and centers of high civilization had risen and fallen. The dynamic Mexica (Aztec) and Inca empires were still expanding at this time and internal migration and warfare were common. The peoples did not see themselves as part of an entity. Only later would this area be given a unifying name - America - and the people labeled "Indians" by Europe.

Because it was the European settlers that helped make this country what it is today. Honestly it was the Vikings that was established here before Columbus was here.
Since the beginning of time someone has taken land for someone else.... not just the white devil.
Now if your not happy with the USA or WHITEY.....you should travel the world and find your ideal country.
But when the **** hits the fan and you want out of that country don't come back here!

When I was at university, an honors history professor said that Native Americans did not "own the land" the way Whites did. He said it was because they lacked legal documents to show they owned the land.
I agree with you and do not care for this idea that America was "discovered" by the European explorers.
But maybe that is why (what the professor said) that it keeps being referred to that way...
Maybe a better way to say this would be, Christopher Columbus discovered America for the Spain or for the Western World.

Whites did found the country. It is the United States of America, and it did not exist when the Native Americans had possession of the land.
Christopher Columbus thought the world was spherical, which is why he went west to get somewhere that was east.
He did not know that there was a continent here, which was ignorant not dumb.
It is also ignorant to call Native Americans "American Indians", but I forgive you for insulting us in such a way.

Actually, Columbus didn't believe the earth was flat. He was trying to sail around the world to find another way to India that didn't require sailing around Cape Horn. And as to whites founding this country, if left to the American Indian, there still wouldn't be a wheel on this continent.

Well it's like this. People have been killing other people and taking their possessions forever. I'm part Indian but there is no need to get my panties in a wad about the past. I'm looking for a better tomorrow. Sadly we seem to fit into nature same as the rest of the creatures. Historically the rulers were/are the worse among us and are responsible for more crime than our worse criminals. Some of them even did it in the name of God and still do.

Let me guess, you are a racist? Don't like white people? Thats pretty low man...And yes, the "white" people DID found this country we call America. Yes, the Native Indians lived here for many, many years prior, but this land was not established and known as "America" until us lying, silly, dumb, whites landed here. Why does it really matter? Every human being alive was born on Earth, and in my opinion has the right to claim anything on the Earth as "their own." Stop being such a whiny little baby. Who cares?
