I'm thinking of going next semester. I am under 21 so no bars really...I'm 19. I'll be staying in media which is, i think, about an hour and a half away. I really like to go to indie-band shows and local coffee shops and things like that. or anywhere i could meet other young people. thanks

Try the Trocadero Theater (affectionately called The Troc) http://www.thetroc.com. They have an upstairs bar so you can still get in downstairs. They have music every night of the week and it's always a varied crowd! Tons of young people hang out there, I basically grew up there. It's in a safe area too with plenty of parking near Chinatown so you can go early and take a walk around Chinatown as well.

Also, try The TLA (Theater of the Living Arts) on South Street. http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/1681. The TLA has massively low-priced shows, TONS of young people, local bands, artists, etc. And it's on South Street which is lined with indie record shops, coffee shops, delis and other stores as well as bars and the BEST pizza place on the planet!

If you're into history check out the Constitution Center, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House and the US Mint in the Historic Area. The area os easy to alk around and the Constitution Center has maps, guides, movies, etc to help you out. They also do a Lights of Freedom tour/living history at night which is cool.

Good luck and have fun!
