It is just a Catholic thing. They believe in order to have a "FAMILY" that the mother and father should be married. That is the old church views, however; the newer views are much more liberal and more conforming to today's society. Its usually the people who make the comments are the ones that are jealous of something you have. Don't let it bother you, especially if you are getting married in the future. Sorry to say but its usually the women who make the comments, guys tend not to care about these issues.

Well, you hit the nail right on the head. It's the religiosos that have the problem, not you. I got married recently and everything was great before that. Now, we're fighting constantly and I really don't know how much longer this is going to last. If what people are saying is really bothering you, get some simple bands and wear them... no one needs to know if they're wedding rings, or just commitment rings! Good luck to you with this. Marriage sucks.

Although this is 2007, religious people will still try to show you that morally you are not living right. That is their belief and by your son attending a religious school, that is part of their responsibility as guidance in your sons education based upon religious beliefs. If you don't want their opinion, remove your son from their school.

well come on, a catholic school, thats why, to them your living in sin and destined for the eternal flames...to regular people, they are probably jealous that you guys can make it work, and live just like they do, but if you wanted, you could bolt away at a moments notice and have no responsibbility to the other at that point...
i know this well because i live with my fiancee, we keep putting off the marriage not because there is something bad developing, but just because we live comfortably and love each other and really there is no rush to go spend a lot of money on marriage...

People are always saying something because
other people are telling all about themself, such as
you with two families. As for me I don't care as I
have my own life to live and everyone has to an-
swer to the maker in the end anyway so believe
me I could care less what someone else does in
their life.

Well, that's just it you are NOT married, you are not "practically" anything. You are shacking up. People probably care and comment because of the mistakes you are subjecting your children to. Why are you bothering sending your son to Catholic school when you are not practicing? That's just hypocrisy.

Personally, I don't think it's any of their business whether or not you are married. People live their lives in different ways, and I think the people at your son's Catholic school ought to accept that.

Because it is not about your or your boyfriend's believes. It is about your children living in a household where their parents are not only personally but also legally committed to each other. This is not about you and him feeling "comfortable", this is about your kids feeling secure about their home environment. The legalization of marriage shows commitment, and children need that kind of commitment. You know that better than I do, otherwise you wouldn't get so defensive with the "prolonged" divorce thing/

Shacking is an sin, having children out of wed lock is also a sin. Why does your child attend Catholic school? Why send your child to a school that teaches about God and what's a abmoniation to God if you are living in sin? We must lead by example.
