I am not a doctor, but a family nurse practitioner. I would say that 90% of my patients who come into my office have a legitimate health concern. As for the other 10%....well sometimes they are just funny. I wouldn't say that I talk about my patients behind their backs, but I do sometimes discuss funny things that have happened in my day. Rest assured, your practitioner is not sharing these things with people on the street. If I do tell about something funny, it is to my spouse. I NEVER discuss any names or identifying details and often I will change the sex of person.
Healthcare is a challenging field. It is a job, just like you have a job. I'm sure that you discuss things at your job with your spouse also. There are times that it is so difficult because you may see something very sad or disturbing, and you have no outlet to relieve the emotional stress. We are human and sometimes we just need to share stories or discuss our day, just like you.

Yes some do, I have worked in the the health care field for over 30 yrs and I have heard many doctors talk about patients to other doctors , nurses their friends, most of the time they are discreet about the names but some just don't care.

Well doesn't everyone talk behind someone's back? I mean just because you are getting paid for the work you do, doesn't mean you won't talk about people.

Some do, some don't. They don't talk about you and use your name publicly, but they can talk about your case with others as long as no identity is revealed.
