What are "Fans" and what does it have to do with answers?

When did this happen? I just noticed that I have groupies.

Fans are people on Yahoo Answers who like your questions and answers so they add you to their networks and you can in turn add people you want to your network. It got started like maybe a week ago.

I have a couple myself -- as best I recall it happened a few weeks ago.
