haha this question is hilarious.. seriously i couldn't stop laughing when i read it. I completely agree that it's the best thing he's done. Even if he becomes England's top scorer, breaking Lampard's hand is the biggest favour he will ever do for the country, and humanity in general.

It doesn't matter what Rooney does, play well or play poorly he will always be criticized. The press built him up from a 16 yr old, the fans did too and then it's his fault for not living up to their expectations. Yes his form for England isn't great, but neither is the form of many others. I don't care if he gets criticized, but people can't be objective about him. How many times did Gerrard lose his cool tonight, and Cole and Terry and a few others but it's OK. Rooney was harassed by defenders trying to bait the ref to card him, taunted and trash talked the entire time he was on, with very little reaction and gets carded for the most pathetic of reasons.
And his nice first touch ball to Gerrard led to the first goal that got England off their butts, so all in all I don't really see much decency from many of them in the national shirts. Why single people out, they are a team.

I'm a Man Utd season ticket holder so this is hard to say .... but .... i've not seen a decent England performance from Rooney since he was taken off injured against Portugal in Euro 2004!!!! Shame, cause he's the best player we've got.

i DID like hime, but recently he hasnt been up to par. yes he is don not as good in his international team, and i still cant stop talkin about how rooney missed two breakaways against...middlesborogh and had no defenders behind him pressuring him..!!! those were almost ensured goals if it were Cronaldo!! the only way manU won was by Ronaldos footwork and the foul!!!! rooney is slowin down, he is doin very poor..i agree ...... unfortunately

I would like to know how come it took so long not to play Steve G and Lampard together.........I don't think there is anything wrong with his hand.................Rooney is a good played but we cant count on him to score goals for England.

The 2nd Best player in the to Ronaldinho who sucked in the last world cup.
Wait till the Euro then he will be our leader with Andy Johnson beside him instead of Crouch that is the reason why we didnt do so well in the world cup we needed AJ to be playing

It wasn't good for me--what he did to Lamps! Rooney is a good player despite all that he does and his attitude. He needs to work on that...

He is a dangerous player and teams fear him, which is more than you can say for McClaren or the England team as a unit
