I have my own webcomic, and am going for the first time to an anime/comic convention. I tried looking for any rules that prohibited promoting my own stuff there...but havent found anything. My "promotion" would be somewhere along the lines of me wearing a shirt promoting my webcomic and carrying cards to give to random ppl.
I really dont see why they would mind: me spreading the word about my tiny comic wouldnt upset the balance of the world...but I want to know if this is prohibited at some conventions...The one Im going to is Sakura Con.

Any advice on this? Or links to specific rules where this is mentioned?

I see nothing wrong w/the shirt but the cards might be over the line why don't you contact the people running the show. Good Luck

I'm sure you could do that but it would be even better if you made a few friends at the con, perhaps even buy a table at the artist alley if they have one. That way you would be "legit" as well as be able to network with some people with the same interests as you and meet some of your potential audience as well. If you have friends that are going to be participating at the con, ask them to hand out some flyers for you.
