Yes you do get a point for every thumbs-up you get but it only counts up to fifty thumbs-up...after that its just a pat-on-the-back, and only after you get chosen as best answer

If you are selected as Best Answer You get (thumbs up - thumbs down) bonus points up to a maximum of 50.
The minimum number of bonus points you can get is 0.
People can still thumbs up or down your answer after it is picked as BA, so you will sometimes pick up points later on when the net thumbs up increases.

Example:
1. If you have 4 thumbs up and 10 thumbs down and your answer is chosen as best, you will get zero bonus points.
2. If you have 10 thumbs up and 4 thumbs down and your answer is chosen as best, you will get six bonus points.
If the next person that comes along gives you a thumbs up for your answer in example 2, you get another bonus point at that time

No, as they said above me....if you get a thumbs up and then your answer is picked for best answer you get 10 points plus 1 point for a thumbs up....

those thumbs up only turn into points if that answer was chosen as best answer, then you get the 10 points with an additional point for every thumb up you got for that answer

Yes. I am looking at the points list and you get 1 point for every thumbs up for every one you receive on your Best Answered one, and up to 50 of them per day!! Sheesh!!
It's right in front of my face. Who the hell is ever gonna get 50 thumbs up on a question voted as Best Answer??? @80)
