I was wondering exactly that same thing
it turns out it has roots in slavery or something
I didn't even know cracker could be a bad word till like 5 years ago.
If you just put yourself in the mindset of being a slave for awhile, if you can, then think about each word carefully , you will start to get the gist of it I think. If you ever did a job you hated cuz you had too.
"I don't care, my masters gone away....." think about it

Because Jimmy cracked corn so many times that people decided to make a song to tell Jimmy that they don't care that he cracks corn, but yet they care about John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, because his name is their name too. Whenever they go out. They hear the people shout, "There goes John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt." La, la, la, la, la, la!!

The song says, " Jimmy cracked corn, and I don't care". Notice it doesn't say that nobody cares, only the singer. otherwise it would have to say, " Jimmy cracked corn and nobody cares ".

The song was originally "gimme cracked corn - I don't care" about a slave being starved after his master dies.

Think about there are plenty of other songs that no one cares about How about some of the greats by Jessica Simpson and Lindsay Lohan??? I certainly do not give a flying F%$# about their songs and they still made them anyway. He was probably a rich loser with pushy parents
