It washes in cold, even though I have the setting on HOT.

There is hot water everywhere else in the house....and we do not use a "sink" hookup for our machine.

1) Turn off the hot water valve that your washing machine hose connects to. Remove the hose. Get a bucket and see if hot water comes out of the spigot. I suspect it will, as you have hot water elsewhere.
2) If you have hot water, examine the hose end you removed. At this end or maybe at the washing machine end there may be a screen filter that is attached to the little rubber washer in the hose. Is it clogged? Clean or replace if so.
3) Connect the hose to the valve, but disconnect from washer if not already done so. Again with bucket, make sure hot water can flow through the hose. (Can't imagine why it wouldn't but with everything apart at this point, why not double check.) Expecting it flows, put all of this back together and turn on the hot water supply valve.

At this point you have checked everything about the supply side. The only thing left is the electric solenoid valve that lets the hot water in. It may be shot, or clogged if you saw no strainers in the hose connections. Beyond this possibility would be if the timer contacts in the control unit were not working right. This is all electrical - so you will need a service call at this stage. (But at least you will know it is unlikely to be something dumb, you've checked all the basics.)

This could be a number of things. First turn on the selection switch to "hot" wash and start the machine. If it starts water in the machine that is cold, then your hot and cold are mixed up...swap them. If nothing comes out then shut off the water and check the screen inside the hose to make sure it's clean. If not...clean it or replace it. Also check to make sure the valve is open. Sometimes the hot and cold will open opposite from each other. If all this is good then it may just be too far from the water heater hence you'll just have to wait for the hot water to arrive into the machine. Meanwhile...the water will be cold until it arrives. Lastly, it could be a bad solenoid valve in the machine. You'll probably want a repair person to fix that. Good luck...

The washer has a mixing valve with two solenoid valves. The two solenoid valves control the flow of hot and cold water into the washer. The solenoid controlling the hot water is defective. On my washer, the entire mixing valve is replaced as a single unit. Costs about 30 bucks and takes 15 minutes to change. I've done mine twice... If you have hot water everywhere else, and the washer never gets any hot water, this is likely your problem. Get the make and model number of your washer. Look in the yellow pages for "Appliances, Parts and Repair". Call and see if they have a part for it.

Is there hot water anywhere else in your house, like the kitchen sink? If not , you could need a new water heater. If so, is the faucet behind the washing machine turned on( the one on the right is usually the 'hot' one.

If your other faucets have hot water, all the posters are wrong. (assuming that hot and cold are connected to the washer) The valve inside your washer that switches from hot or cold is stuck. You can get the washer repaired or just wash with cold water. Washing with cold saves energy.

Is the hot water hose connected to the back of your machine and is that hose connected to the sink and turned on?

it's just like your shower, it takes time to get the water to the spigot, you may need to run some water first to get the water hot.

obviously whoever set it up, didn't hook it up to the hot water and that is what the problem is.
