I think a middle name of someone you really respect is cool. My husband and I are scientists and we considered middle names like Sagan, Curie, and Darwin. I ended up giving my daughter the middle name (Quinn) of my friend who passed away a few years ago.

As a child, I really felt special because I had been named in honor of my great grandfathers Andreas and Leander (my name is Andrea); it gave me a tie to another person who was loved and respected by my parents.

One of the most popular guys in my high school was named " Young". Very strange, right ? ... but that was his mom's maiden name. Because he was such a cool guy, no one ever thought anything about it or made fun of it. A friend of mine was " Dyer".... once again, the mom's maiden name. Perhaps this is a Southern tradition; I'm not sure. But, if a child is taught to go through life with dignity and respect for others, he or she can carry any name. I encourage you to select a family name that is meaningful for you. Good chance your child will also pass it on one day. What an honor !!!

chose members of your family's names. play around with the letters. I'm sure you can come up with something great and meaningful. ex sample: kadis...aunt Kathy, brother Allen, husband David, great grand mother Iris and sexy Sadie...yourself.....take your time, play around with it. I'll bet you come up with a great name you and your family will forever be proud of....best wishes to all....star....let us know.
