I am thinking about getting a lund hood scoop for my car but I was wondering if the 3m tape that comes with it good enough to hold it on and what is the best way to paint it with automotive spray paint and clear coat.

these scoops are made to stick on with the supplied tape. as for spray painting: use light coats of color, with a primer base. clear coat should be wet sanded in between coats, except for the last coat.
the BEST way to apply these scoops is by a professional bodyshop. they will rivet the scoop to your factory hood, use a body filler to make it look smooth and factory, and then paint it to match the rest of your car. this is the preferred application, but both will work.

Before you pull off the tape clean the hood with alcohol to remove any wax or grease, pull off the protective coating on the adhesive and plop it down, making sure it is on striaght.

Paint it before you install it, use base coat and clear if that's how your body was painted.
