I only include name, address, phone number and account number. Just be sure you trust the site and that it is a reputable company to do business with.

Some people say absoulutly not an any situation. But if it is a company you trust yes. Online stores need you credit card number to purchase products but I would only purchase if they use a secure connection. You would be able to tell if you have a secure connection it you in the address bar, on IE 7(internet explorer 7), if you see a lock image in the address bar. A secure connection uses security feautures so no one can see your credit card number.
Do not send credit card info over email! Email gets routed through different severs and they can see your email if it is not encrypted. Emails do not travel in a direct line. Even if you have encyption I would recommend sending credit card numbers that way.

1. Never send CC information over email. Email is not secure.
2. If the web site is not a trusted web site. Only give CC information to trusted web sites like Amazon, PayPal, Macy's, Target, etc.
3. Make sure you see https (not http) in the URL. This ensures that the CC information and other information will travel encrypted over the internet.
4. Do not ever send the CC information when using public computers.
5. Regularly clean up history, cookies, and form information in the browser.
6. Keep your browser up-to-date with latest patches and fixes.
7. If you have an option use a CC with lowest limit.

I would never recommend it.
Emails are nearly always recorder so can be read for reference. This is not to say people read your emails. It is only when certain words are used then a scanning program inspects the email.
The email is also very easy to be intercepted by third parties if they have the wish to do so.
On the plus side then content of emails is encrypted but can still be worked out.
My advise:
Send it in code
Use letter of the alphabet to symbolize numbers or break the details up in separate emails.
Post the content
Letters are normally safer
However with trusted companies:
Paypal
Amazon
I do trust the automatic service used.
All the best

it is never safe to send information through the internet. But the safest would be by Paypal and sites like it. If it's just information from one person to another and you're sending it by e-mail, be sure to have a really good internet security program as well as the receiver of the e-mail. It's the best way, but i never recommend sending important information through the internet.

If you make sure that the connection is secure there isnt really a problem on the sending, what should worry you is who you are sending it to. Either the person/company you are sending it to can missuse it or if their servers dont have good enough security level and your credit card number could get stolen from there.
So basicly i suggest on giving it only to the known companyes with good reputation.

It depends on the website. Always look for the security on the site. As a rule of thumb, I tend to avoid using sites that aren't encrypted.
Also, you can look for the little lock icon in the bottom toolbar to show whether or not the site is secure.
