Ok, but everyone is dancing around the gender-difference question.
The truth is, there is no such thing as a romance novel for guys. Guys may read Wuthering Heights, but only if they need to analyze it for a literature class; and Wuthering Heights is as good as it gets.
Not that guys don't read genre fiction, just that it is more likely to involve science or military history or the wild west. Any romance is strictly incidental.
I had never thought about this before, but it is an actual gender distinction. I love Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone, but nobody male would ever have read any of her books if he wasn't a Colombian druglord.

Try the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series. Skip the first one (Fantasy Lover,) it's a typical romance and the characters show up in other books; the rest however have superb characters and interesting storylines.
Otherwise try the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Lots of history and adventure along with the romance. Make sure you read them in order, though. It makes a difference.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. A lot of the focus is on a man which could be a bonus for a male reader. Also, it doesn't bog down too much in sugary sweetness!
