lets see player for player
c- mcann has power for a catcher and surprising average....kendall has hit 2 homers in the past 2 seasons and declining still
1b- giambi is great power hitter good for 35-40 homers this year as fulltime dh and laroche wont hit 32 homers again this year in pitt but good for 25 and good average as well
2b- giles is declining but look for him to regain form in sd and if he does expect a great year with a gaudy average
3b- aurilia is agingin but good flexibility with all his positions eligible for....chipper jones will hit 20+ homers if healthy drive in 100 as well
ss- jeter is the best simply put lol does everytthing hits for average steals bases drives in runs and hits a good number of homers..one of the best
of- jones in contract year look for monstrous numbers could hit 50+homers if healthy all year
of- francouer is good for 30+ homers and 10 steals and healthy average as well
of- giles is aging and losing power good for 10+ homers and 75 rbis...crisp should steal 30 if healthy and will score alot of runs in that lineup of bostons
util- laroche ....look at 1b....beltre is slowly regaining form but wont hit 40 homers again but could swipe 30 and hit 20 this year
util- posada is top5 catcher in that ny lineup

sp- smoltzy is good for another 200+innings and close to 200 k season if healthy and a solid 15 wins with that revamped bullpen of the braves
sp- mussina is solid quality starter good for 14-16 wins and 160k if healthy...chuck james is a big sleeper pick could surprise alot of people
sp-maddux is on the downfall but still manages to pulll it through year in and out lol
rp-bagner is good for 40+saves but wont have a high k/9 since he is turning down the velocity on his pitches...mo is the best simply put
rp- mo once again the best lol....wickman could possibly lose job to gonzalez if he doesnt produce
p- padilla is an average pitcher who has a high era dont look for that to change either....beckett could have 200k season this yera looking dominant in spring training
p- chuck james(look above)...schilling is ageing as well but good for double digit wins and 180k and era around 3 and a half
p- beckett(look above) and garland is a pitcher who gets 15 wins a year with low k rate

overall your teams are decent but in both you need some stolen bases besides jeter and crisp ...look for a willy taveras....if you want a few sleeper hitters look for chris duncan, adrian gonzalez, jonny gomes, ty wigginton
i really like your pick of chuck james he will surprise people if you want a few sleeper pitchers look for adam wainwright, jeremy sowers, or clay hensley
overall good teams

hope i helped
goodluck and have fun....and go yanks lol!

Your team is very solid. However, you lack a lot in SB. The best thing you can do is look into free agency and try to find 1 or 2 sleeper pitchers maybe worth your time over Padilla Garland (maybe even Beckett). Since you have both McCann and Posada I don't think it would hurt you to drop Kendall for a base stealer. Dave Roberts could help out a lot if available. Chuck James is a very nice pick-up especially with his preseason. Basically, stolen bases and maybe a little more risk taking with your SP to not miss out on a stud for someone guaranteed to be average or a little below.
