So I wasn't this way with my first pregnancy at all. I swelled but just a little bit. Well with this pregnancy my legs and feet are extremely swollen. So swollen it's scary!! I can't even walk right because I feel like me feet or my legs are going to explode!! This isn't normal for me because usually my legs and feet are really boney and I've read that extreme swelling can be bad. What should I do. Nothing seems to help even when I try to elevate them. What could be the problem?

With sudden sever swelling call your ob now.
If it has been coming on and had some at last visit then you need to do as your doctor says. Sleeping on your left side is a must now. water retention will become less.
Just elevating is min. you need to eat, drink stand, lay right when you get bad water retention.
Talk to your doctor. Preclamcia is a fear.

I am 30 weeks also and i have really bad swelling too. so bad. it look like you can take a pin and just pop them. when i walk sometimes my feet even hurt. from all the pressure on my blood vessels. I pop my feet up every chance i get on a pillow to make some of the swelling go down. lve read that sometime the swelling can be due to high blood pressure. but i see my midwife in a few day and i'll ask her.

good luck hope your feet feel better.

You can take this for what it's worth, but I just thought I would throw this out there for you to check out:

1. Go to the doc ( I feel obligated to say that!)

2. There is a book called, "Eat Right 4 Your Baby," by Dr.Peter J. D'Adamo. It is sold on Amazon.com (see the link below). However, I found it at my local public library. Anyway, you will need to know your blood type (which your doc should've gotten when you had your bloodwork done at your first OB visit.) This book gives lists of foods that are and are not recommended according to each blood type. I read in the book that blood types "O" and "B" are more suseptible to swelling. If you get the book at your library, check pages 77 and 194-195 for things you can do to take down the swelling. I also read in the book that when you eat certain foods for that aren't beneficial to your blood type, it can cause fluid retention and swelling.

If anything, the book is really interesting. Good luck! :)
(By the way - the book gets into depth about why certain foods are benefical and others are not based on each blood type.)

Yes, go to the doctor immediately. Same thing happened to me all of a sudden with my first and turned out to be pre-eclampsia, a very dangerous condition for you and baby both. Can even cause seziures if left alone for too long. The only "cure" for it is delivery. You can try to elevate your legs on pillows or coffee table and wrap your feet with frozen towels as it'll take the tightness away a little at least. Keep socks and shoes off as much as possible and stay off your feet. All these helped when I had the problem. Good luck to ya.

first you need to call dr asap! especially if trouble walking. I have 2 children, 1st one no prob's, 2nd pregnancy--just like you! It pre eclampsia, toxemia. you need to go to DR, need to have blood presssure taken. There is no reason why this happens, Drs dont know causes. It is NOT your fault, doing nothing wrong. BUT VERY DANGEROUS for you & baby! If its that bad you should go to ER. Also, your local fire Dept will take your blood pressure for you. I did that a lot, just to make sure I was ok. It is scary you are right, but if youre getting the medical care you neeed, you will feel more comfortable & confident with it. They will monitor you closely. Bed rest is probably going to be a must maybe even hospitalization if you cant get pressure & swelling under control. I went as long as I could for the health of myself & baby, then was induced the day I was due. Good luck, but from my experience you need to see dr right away, ok? Go call now.

You have high blood pressure, have you seen your doctor lately, or called them about this. It makes your pregnancy a higher risk for preterm labor...

Drink a lot of fluids, and elevate your feet every single time you sit down, also first thing call your doctor, this is not normal or good

Has your doctor checked your blood pressure. One of my friends had to have a c-section (She had 2 previous ones) at 37 weeks due to Pre-eclampsia. She was swelling really bad too. This can be dangerous so you need to be checked out ASAP.
