i need to pick a huamn rights violation for English, we're gonna right letters to a congressman or something and i need help picking one.. not Darfur b/c everyone is going to be doing that but something along those lines

Shari'a Law. It's Muslim. Women, of course, get the worst punishments. It's really, really bad.

So, if you are planning on writing members of Congress, shouldn't you find some violation in America that an elected official can actually do something about?

You might first look into the history of human rights and how it has evolved over the centuries.
Then, focus your efforts on some form of violation - be it race, religion, sex or ethnicity.

Try to see what the cause is and what possible solution could remedy it.
Contact your congressperson, spell out the facts you have found and ask them if they can offer any help.
