It's a long story... but what should I do to cool off, i'm going through being angry and crying pretty fast.

Take a walk around the block, weather permitting.

Think of a place you have been that you really enjoyed. Close your eyes and visualize this place. Hold onto the memory for as long as you can.

Write a letter that you WILL NOT SEND about the issue that is making you upset to get it off your mind. Tear up or burn the letter tomorrow.

Put your focus away from what is troubling you. Assuming that you are not on fire or bleeding to death as one would not be able to post a question here if those were the case.

My husband's sister called him up one day and was in a panic. She was afraid that people with guns were going to shoot at her and rioters were going to burn down her house. She had been watching the tv news. First he said turn off hte tv and listen out the window. She didn't hear any gunfire,. Then he said to smell the air, she didn't smell smoke.

Try controlling your breathing. breathe in slow, on a 4 second count, hold for 2, breath out for more seconds. After you have done this for at least 5 minutes, get a piece of paper and start writing down all the things that are OK in your life.

Here's what's ok in mine right now. I just ate, the sun is shining, I finished the dishes, I talked to some friends online about a movie.

Now that you have had a chance to breath and write down the ok things, if you still have troubles, start taking steps to work them out. If you need therapy, BE PROUD and ask for the help.

Best wishes.

Ramona...not knowing if you have ongoing problems otherwise I would recommend that you sit down and breathe deeply, pulling air into your lungs slowly with your stomach muscles, then using the same muscles to push the air out. This essentially is relaxation breathing. You should do about ten breathes at a time, then some normal breathes then ten more. If you need to, get away from where you are or the source of what is upsetting you. Best of luck.
