Wow, I don't know who many of you have been hanging out with, but I envy you. I never hear ANYTHING about U2, and they're my all-time favorite band. It seems like the only album that ever gets praised is The Joshua Tree and it's not one of my favorites. I think people who say their music all sounds the same only know a few select songs. They do have their own "U2" sound, but listen to "Endless Deep" and then "Until the End of the World" and tell me they sound the same.

I don't even know why I'm bothering to answer this because you're obviously going to give a best answer to somebody who says something unenlightened like "they suck" but to each his/her own I guess.

Like them or not, they've been around for 30 years and have probably one of the largest, most loyal fan bases in the world. U2 fans are the nicest people. I've met so many cool people at concerts, and I've brought friends and family members to concerts and turned them into fans.

U2 IS the best band on the planet...yesterday, today, and forever.

it's practically blasphemous to say that about U2...Bono is an actor and he admits that he loves to ham it up, if it makes you uncomfortable then you're obviously very superficial. It's an act.... an accompaniment to the music...

they reformed music perception and remained for the last 22 or so years never losing it once or releasing a bad song.

'demi god' bono is an ambassador for peace and personally speaking if every country had an ambassador like him who cared that much the world would be very well represented. Sadly no other country seems to have an ambassador like him who isn't afraid to rock the boat and be a little controversial... It gets things done.

This member of the public thinks great is an understatement... They're living legends.

Is there a reason why you choose to hate a person that is doing good in the world. U2 does not get enough coverage. Britney Spears, Tom Cruise and Sean Penn are everywhere, and what the hell do they contribute to society? You don't have to like their music, that's fine-it's a personal choice, but as a human being, you need to respect the years of work that Bono has put into helping to end poverty.

Marjorie is right. We constantly post these answers and we know all along the best answer is going to go to someone with that same one-sided mentality as you.

Oh well, even if we get through to one person, it's still "ONE"

They used to be good, a long time ago. Their last good album was "Achtung Baby," which was actually the best and most honest thing they ever did. Ever since then they have sucked like a vacuum cleaner hose.

I used to be a big fan back in the 80s, but now I can't even listen to them at all. I think Bono has gotten confused: Christians are supposed to follow Jesus, they're not supposed to THINK they're Jesus.

I cannot stand them - so far up their own behinds it is untrue. And as for Bono, the self proclaimed saver of our planet - who is he trying to fool? Brown nosing with Blair, trying to look cool. Take those ridiculous glasses off Bono and just retire - give us all a break - take your equally annoying and irritating mate Geldof with you too - how much can that man milk his only selling single, I don't like mondays? - ahhhh, two of a kind.

They are extra bad, they had like 4 good songs in the 80's that's about it, Bono is the biggest pr*ck goin' and i'm sure that Edge geezer slagged of Birmingham one time so I hate him, and the rest of the band are just your run of the mill band

god yes though i think bono is focusing too much on third world needs and i think the rest of the band,as much as they help, will eventually get pissed off and give him an ultimatum, considering it was larry who set up the band in the first place?

ive been saying that for years.
and why does Bono always have to give his opinion and appear in every music article/book about music legends.
just because he knows them doesnt mean hes up there with them

I've been a fan of theirs since the early 80's but for me they have not done anything that i would call briiliant since 'Achtung Baby' and that was 16 years ago. You've got to admire their ability to keep changing their sound though!!!
