Many people who use drugs are motivated by peers,be it the people they attend school with,and/or the television programs they watch. It is very common to hear a child say "I would never do drugs",and then witness them a week later smoking pot,b/c "all their friends do it". Peer pressure is very strong for children and most want to conform rather than stick out like a sore thumb. Its sad but its true. I don't think their is really motivation other than that b/c I have never once meet someone who said that they wanted to become addicted to drugs.

The same motivation as using legal drugs. They alter the mood in ways desireable to the user.

Drugs create a high that can help people temporarily cope with pain or other struggles.

The high that is created can also be fun and feel good physically and therefore the use can also be to simply experiment and enjoy oneself.
