i love kobe bryant. Don't get me wrong, but I do not think he is the best player in the history of the NBA.
However, i will venture to say that he is the best overall offensive player in the NBA now. No one can stop him.
PS: steve nash doesnt deserve a 3rd mvp. if he wins ill be prettty bitter.

81 Points...SO? Against the Raptors? I know a lot of people who could score 80 if they took 40+ shots a game.
50 points in 5 straight? Try again...it was 4 straight...in game 5 he scored 43 I believe in a win...in game 6 he scored 23 and got beat by MEMPHIS!
2 All Star Game MVP's...SO? That and $3.50 will get you a late
3 Rings...No, Shaq got three rings...what did Kobe do before Shaq? What has he done since?
MVP's...SO? MVP does not go to the best player in the NBA each year, it goes to the most valuable...that is the name of the award after all. If it want to the best player every year, Michael Jordan would have won every year.
I would like to hear any good argument that Jordan is not the best ever. He did things that Kobe will never be able to do. He is also better for the game than Kobe. He has been retired for years, and maintans a presence in the league still. Michael never got accused and put on trial for rape, he doesn't punch other people in the face either. Kobe may have streaks of being the best player in the league today...but in the argument for best EVER he may be in the top ten right now at best. Let him finish defining his leaguacy then we can see.

No. He is the best player right now and one of the best ever but not #1 in history. Right now, he isn't even better than MJ. He scored 50+ in 4 games in a row, not 5, MJ managed 3. MJ has 3 more rings. In this argument no one can bring up Pippen because Kobe had Shaq. MJ has has 5 MVPs. Like Kobe, MJ also has 2 allstar MVPs. MJ has better career averages in nearly every single category and the ones he doesn't are only a couple hundredths or thousandths away. Oh yeah, and MJ was a 9 time defensive team too.
My 1-3 doesn't include Kobe.
1. Oscar Robertson (know anyone else to average a triple double over a season and spend his entire career dealing with racism?)
2. Michael Jordan (read above)
3. Wilt Chamberlin (size does matter, in this case, knocked him down a ranking)

He is no where the top of all time. How can you put him ahead of people like Bird or Russel (11 Championships). I wouldn't even put him ahead of Shaq. Before he can even be in the same conversation as those greats he needs to win without Shaq. He does not have 3 MVP's either he has a total of ZERO. What about Magic, Abdul-Jabar, there are so many players that are and will always be greater than him. Don't forget David Robinson scored 77 once.

do u guys even watch nba????kobe has zero mvps, just coz u have never seen anyone b4 kobe play u guys think he s the best, go home and watch ppl play from the yester years, and dont think flare makes u the best player and dont think scoring 81 makes u the best player, and even if u go by the stats, go to the nba.com and see the career stats for jordan and kobe and u ll find out the difference between mjs and kobes stats, mjs stats r higher in every category.i m sick of reading ppl writing wrong facts, i even read someone writing tht kobes fg% is higher then mjs in some other question, for all such ppl just do us a favor and go to the nba.com and see their career stats for themselves and then shut the hell up.for ppl who think kobe is equally good in all the categories, they shud know except the scoring jordan is way way better then kobe at all the things and if u really watch the game then u d know defense is no where as good as it was in the days of mj, hand check was allowed in his days which made scoring hell of a difficult task. rightnow u cant guard anyone coz its a foul whenever u touch him. please b4 starting these arguments watch nba, get ur facts right and then start an argument. and compare 2 players if u ve watched both of them and u understand the game which u SIMPLY DONT!!!!!!!!!!!

Kobe is a want to be
1 changed from 8 to 24 because he lives 24 hours a day? so do we.
2 scored 81 to try to break wilts record, not even close
3 tried to be face of the franchise by running over shaq, we know who got run over.
4 pretending to be a sharing player, we know bad acting when we see it.
5 sexual predator, would never bring my kids to a laker game.

Yes Kobe's game is unmatched.
A better question is how can a perfect player still continue to evolve like this man does?

If we go for points then it would have to be wilt.
#1 in history: no
#1 present league: maybe
He still has a number of years to go. Lets just wait and see how far KB24 can take his game.

I am not gonna be biased here because obviously half the people on here either hate kobe or love him and i personally dont really care much but here's my opinion.
There's no doubt that Kobe is gonna be in the Hall of Fame some point after his carrer, but comparing him to michael jordan is just too much. I mean in my opinion, just like one of the analysts had said, he is probably the most complete offensive player ever. I mean look at him...he has no sweet spot. If you look at all of is clutch shots, they were all in different areas on the court and i mean he has almost unlimited range and also incredible at taking it to the basket. I mean look at him, you have never seen michael jordan do fade-way 3 pointers for way in the corner with absolutely no room and swish it countless times...i mean honestly...MJ had a great shot but he was more of a driver and mid-range shooter with a sweet spot at the free throw line.
kobe has had his flashes of brilliance of sharing the ball but usually has to carry the load while MJ was consistently sharing the ball and showed up in his stats
defensively....Kobe's good at keeping himself between his opponent and the basket...instinctive...but MJ took this category by far...i mean look at his stats during his prime..i mean at one time he averaged 3 steals and 1 block a game which is insane..
And people talk about how if michael jordan had been the go to score he wouldve averaged a crapload of points and the reason he doesnt is because look at his team! He didnt have to score or create shots for himself all the time and if he has scored a bunch of points himself they wouldve lost more games and Kobe, usually when he scores a lot they win. He had Scottie Pippen who we all know can do almost anything and pretty much had no weak points....Horace Grant who was a beast in the middle and was awarded to atleast 4...John Paxson who was known for his 3-point shooting...B.J. Armstrong, who was an intregral part of the dynasty for the bulls, was a pretty good pure PG.
Now I am not saying Lakers didnt have a good team during their mini-dynasty. But Kobe averaged i think 20ish points a game through that time while MJ scored more than that during their dynasty. I mean the only reason Kobe had to score that much because i mean look at their roster....Kobe, not much to say....Lamar Odom...like a wannabe Scottie Pippen but pretty good nonetheless....Kwame Brown....who was a bust in the NBA Draft, was still raw as a player but was still developing...Smush Parker...who was an alright scorer but wasnt well-known player and wasnt one of those pass-first point guards that many teams liked, but it seemed Lakers needed all the help they could get with scoring...Chris Mihm...Not much to say...big...rebounder...pretty good consistent scorer...
but yea to see kobe bryant is number one in the history of the NBA is really too much....to say he's up there with the greats? definitely..

before Kobe become #1 in history, he will have a hard time first against Dr. J & Elgin Baylor's place in the all-time list.
