Do you like the idea of the police not having guns like England's police?

Or do you like it like our police, carrying guns ?

Im not pushing bias to any of the ideas. I am just wondering what you think.

I think police should carry guns... all you do is accuse me of something. I was just wondering what everyone elese thought.

No, I actually think it would be a very good idea for police to go without guns. If I was in control, which of course I'm not, I would be like, "The decision is up to the people. Either, we can have the police carry no guns, and keep the same restrictions on citizen gun ownership, or we will let the police carry guns, but remove ALL restrictions on citizen gun ownership of ANY kind."

it's also illegal for individuals to own almost all guns, except under special rules. most individuals could not qualify. besides, using a firearm in the commission of a crime can increase the time sent in prison. the ownership of guns is england is NOT a guranteed right as it is here. also, the use of a gun in this country, as well as the types of weapons someone can own., are not restricted as they are in england.
one example. pump shotguns here can have five shells legally, though only three if hunting. in england, the pump shotgun is illegal and only a single or double barrel shotgun is used for hunting, and may legally be owned.
note- the english police do have guns, but only for special squads. the average police bobby does not nor does the average other police personnel.

I would rather have the police carry guns. A bobby poses no threat whatsoever to a mugger or a purse-snatcher.

An American cop, on the other hand. . . Many will stop immediately when they see they are only seconds away from a man with a pistol who is trained to use it.

Yes; I think Americans as a whole are too stupid to carry weapons, too easy to use them and to easy to buy them. When you sell guns at the same place you can buy food.. then it is no wonder Americans kill each other at the rates that they do.

No. I believe that since we, as Americans, have the right to bear arms, so, too, should the police force that protects us. Not all Americans are careful and safe with guns... I would like protection from those people.

It might work in England. That's a different culture than the U.S. If you disarm the cops here, many people will die. The ones who live will wish they hadn't because they'll spend their lives being terrorized by drug dealers, bums, and other vermin.

Not when the rest of the population can carry guns. As long as we have the 2nd amendment, our law enforcement should carry guns.

I think they need them. too many of our criminals have guns. england, like most other nations, are very strict when it comes to non-hunting rifles. some even ban all other guns.
