Or should politics stay a rich kids club?

No, I don't think that they should necessarily need the job, but they need not be from the rich kids club exclusively either. I am okay with politicians who come from money, but I would love to see more who truly understand what means to work paycheck to paycheck. I would love to see politicians who understand what it means to make the average median income and still manage to maintain for you and your family. I would love to see politicians who truly understand what it means to be a representative for your constituents and not big business.

it would be impossible to have a political candidate that NEEDS to work for the govt. if they are capable of doing the job of a congressman then they would be able to find a very well paying job in the private sector and more than likely had already in the past. Now allowing career politicians is another matter.

No, I don't think they should need the job; but I do think any kids in their families should be serving in the Armed Services. Godloveya.

No they should not need the job. If they are always needing money they are more open to receive payoffs, bribes and the like. It's bad enough as it is.

If they need the job they are probably going to want more handouts. Base your decision on what they are willing to do for you and for what they know not what they own.

if they NEED it they probally haven't gotten a lot of education due to the ridiculous tuitions at elite colleges

they ought to serve and asa servents make less than their masters, reduce their wage and benefit packages and we might get some honest ones
