In that case, I strongly support our elitests and hope they ascend to every political position, despite how insecure and inferior it will make our "common man" rednecks feel. We can't afford to mess around with good old boys when it comes to controlling the world's largest nuclear arsenal and economy.
Next time an elitest runs for office, vote for him -- it means he's read a book.

Yes - I'm tired of listening to cons complain about what they don't understand except in the most simplistic terms - and claiming I'm wrong when it's they who are uninformed on the issue. Elitists unite and rid the world of the stupid and ignorant in power.

No
elitest think they don't have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

example: Al Gore making money off carbon credits and he was us all to change our lifestyles but won't change his or sign a plege to change it.

elitests don't get their hands dirty.
example: Conservative Christians give more of thier own time and money to helping the poor the the elitests.

considering some of the elitests should be reading more than a book but others.

Namely I think they should know something about being humble and having respect for others which I have yet to see an elitest do.

I have seen the elitests in OR burning soliders in effigy.

What a great example to point out.

You really should know the answer to the question before you pose it, that is what intelligent people do.

A brilliant device of Vladimir Lenin allowed that fellow comrades might be treated as a bit “more equal than others” because of the sacrifices they had to make in bringing enlightenment to the masses. He called them the “Vanguard of the Elite,” and when they took power, it gave them the excuse to live the lavish lifestyles they were all already beginning to enjoy as power brokers in the new Soviet Union.

The next time an elitist runs for office, run the other way because you are talking about a rich commie.

Elitist has the connotation of snobbery, narcissism, and entitlement as well as wealth. Paris Hilton could be considered an elitist so could John Kerry and President Bush for that matter. All of these grew up with great wealth and entitlement. They have been given everything in life and earned none of it. I don't know if they are educated (2/3 probably are) but being an elitist doesn't mean you are intelligent.

No, I know plenty of well-educated people who are not elitists. Being an elitist means that you think that your viewpoint is so much more superior to others' that you feel that you are better than other people.

All elitism is is basically a god complex. There are people that have great ideas and should be in govt. But are they better than you or I? No. All people fall short of the glory of the Gospel. (Romans 3:23) And God opposes the proud.

Where I come from, we call them the "e-lite and the po-lite", and they come from a different world than the common man. The reason that many of them are well-educated is because they grew up in an environment with plenty of resources and opportunity. Kinda like how private high schools often dominate public schools in sports.

Elitism is a belief or attitude that an elite
— a selected group of persons whose personal abilities, specialized training or other attributes place them at the top of any field (see below)

— are the people whose views on a matter are to be taken most seriously, or who are alone fit to govern. Thus elitism sees an elite as occupying a special position of authority or privilege in a group, set apart from the majority of people who do not match up with their abilities or attributes. ...

I prefer to think of them as Gods [in their own minds]

Elitests are usually people that come from "Old Money" families.

Like the folks that live in Greenwich, Conn.

The guy who pours my coffee every day has a masters in history, he is well educated but hardly an elitist.

I think self righteous is a better synonym.
