The Thames begins in the English county of Wiltshire (quite near the ancient Avebury stone circle) and flows eastwards before finally moving through London and out into the North Sea.

During the Ice Age however (about 15,000 BC) it began in Wales and since the North Sea at that time was dry land, the Thames kept going and was a major tributary of the Rhine River which flows through Germany.

But that's a whole other story! In short - The River Thames only flows through England.

The River Thames runs through England, which is a portion of the country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It doesn't run through any other present-day sovereignty.
