We usually start going through perimenopause during our 40s, but can start in the 30's. Menopause (period stops) in the mid 50's.
Exactly when that will happen for you depends on when your mother went through it.
Symptoms of perimenopause are: period changes (heavier, gets irregular), PMS can get worse, get hot flashes and night sweats, insomnia.

Anytime from 34 to 55 years old. Night sweats, hot flashes, irregular periods, mood swings and spotting between periods are a few of the symptoms.
My period stopped completely after 3 years from the onset of the night sweats and hot flashes. Everyone is different, though, so ask your OB-GYN to run some hormone tests.
