I am sorry to say that each woman is different. I walked around at a 2 with one of my children for a few weeks. Then with my first baby I was at the doctors in the morning and was at a 2...came back later that night and delivered early the next morning. We are all different. There is no way to really tell for sure what is going to happen. But I kept saying in my mind, "no pain, no gain"...so all of the pain is a good thing, it is making way for the baby =)
Good luck to you.

I really can't answer your question but I am 38 weeks and 4 days and also 2cm and 60% effaced. I have been cramping for two weeks and still no labor so I don't know if it is a sign or not. Good Luck to you.

You can stay at 2 cm for a really looooong time. The most important thing to remember is not to tense up when you have the cramping or contractions. If possible, lay comfortably and let your body go limp when that happens. If you tense up you may prolong labor because your cervix has a harder time dilating with pressure against it from the baby's head when you tense up. Try to relax and make sure you have everything ready to go. You're almost there!!! Good luck & best wishes to you and your family.

The cramping is probably labor pains. Mine was, I had labor pains for 2 months before my son was born, and unless the pains are regular they will probably not make you dialate very fast. But if you are having them quite often that is a good sign, the more frequent and the harder the pains the better off because that is what will make you dialate. I was at 2cm for about 2 weeks before labor. Good Luck!!!

Braxton Hicks and cramping. We all go nuts wondering if they are helping or not. Yes, it does help strengthen and helps effacement. Are you going in next week? I bet when you go in yu will be at 3 or more. With your exam you may notice losing moreor some of your mucus plug. And with these pains I bet you will. You may want to wear a light days pad tonight.
Take a walk around and see if things get stronger. Least a 20 minute walk. if so your in early labor. If there less painfull then no. your having Braxton Hicks from the exam. They can be very painfull.

You can be dilated at two cm for weeks.. Hopefully your cramping will subside so you can get some rest....because it sounds like before long you will be having a little one. Make sure your bags are packed and ready to go....it could be anytime or you could go up to or past your due date. If the cramping gets intense and more frequent be sure to call the doctor....Good Luck

i have been cramping and having contractions since i was 28 weeks now 36 weeks and dialted to 4cm (was 3cm for over two weeks) so it all depends on what your baby has in mind. My dr didn't even think i was going to make it to 36 weeks and i'm still carring a nice large load out in front, honestly dr's can only guess to. my sisters dr told her that she was going early she ended up needing to be induced at 41 weeks-go figure right..
but either way you are considered full term and extremely close even if you don't go on your own., your still right there

I hate to tell you this, but I've walked around 4cm for weeks at a time. For real. But, I won't complain because those two labors were 4 hours and 2 hours, respectively. ;)
