Well, this probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, but when I'm feeling blue, I like movies that are adaptations of the novels I enjoyed as a child. I love any of the Jane Austen adaptations, (the 1940 version with Greer Garson is the best, though)...the old "Wuthering Heights" with Lawrence Olivier...ANY "Jane Eyre"...and "Clueless" is always good for a laugh (loosely based on Austen's "Emma").

depends on why you're feeling depressed. for me, if I'm depressed because of some boy or something, i stay FAR away from the chick flick genre. I prefer to watch comedies when I'm depressed or I really like stand up comedians on DVD like Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Dane Cook...something that makes me laugh. Although if you just need a good cry, go chick flicks.
